Illustration Friday - Cars 2

I finally finished this more realistic painting of a car. I snapped a photo of this volkswagon (with a different license plate) in a parking lot, and decided to paint it. The painting, VW, is 4" by 6", and done in acrylics. I've never owned a VW, but I think they simply look like a car should look.

Slick flick with the lines... I always look up to people who can do traditional art :)

Thanks... I think. I wonder what you mean by "traditional art"? Non-computer art?

One of these days I'll try playing with computer art too, but I'm certainly not there yet.

Hiya Marta...

This Beetle is really superbly painted. Amazing.

I had a yellow Beetle once. And it certainly did feel like a car ought to feel.

Re trying computer art... I reckon you ARE ready to try it! I'm going to almost insist on your heading out to the ArtRage crowd, and downloading the free version.

When I discovered ArtRage, they had a fully functioning free version that was simply one version behind the one they were selling for US$20. I downloaded that version, fell instantly in love with it, cos it works almost exactly like real paint, and days later I bought the full version. I really haven't looked back.

The car pic of mine you commented on was made entirely in ArtRage. I used the chalk tool, on a rough canvas background. And in parts, I scraped things around with a palette knife to grind pigments together.

I'm absolutely certain you'll take to it like a duck to water.

Thanks again for your comments.

Roy, I hve followed your advice, and downloaded Art Rage. I dunno when I'll get around to playing with it... but I will eventually.

Thank you very much for your comment. I don't think anybody ever left me one quite as beautiful and gratifying as yours.
... And I do like the car. My mother said she would have loved to have a beetle when she was young, but the neighbors told her it would make too much noise. I guess Berlin in the 1960ties was rather close-knit sometimes.

Wow! Sorry this is a little late - but your car is fantastic!

If you've ever been to Cancun you'd understand that those "white things" were not abnormally large bikini tops but they are beach chairs. But thanks for the question!

Thanks for the explanation, Lax, I have never been to Cancun. :-(

Over 30 years ago I did spend some time in Barbados, but their beach chairs didn't look anything like Cancun's.
